Privacy policy
Laylo is a browser extension and a web app. It shows the website you are on as a Microsoft 365 SharePoint page, and its tools can keep a site's pages so you can save them as files. This policy says what it reads, where that goes and what we receive.
In short: the content of the pages you visit stays in your browser. We never receive it. We receive only your account's email address, and only when you sign in.
What the extension reads
On the pages you turn the view on for, or open in one of Laylo's tools, the extension reads the page in your browser: its title, logo, navigation, headings, text, links, pictures, layout and styles. It uses them to draw the SharePoint view. When the floating controls are on, it also reads each page to tell whether it is an article or an index page, so the controls can show the page type. All of this happens in your browser.
Where it goes
- Your browser only. The extension passes what it read to the Laylo app in a frame inside the same browser tab. The app draws the view there. The page's content is never sent to our servers or to anyone else.
- Captured pages are kept in the extension's storage on your computer while Studio or the scan page follows a tab. While it does, the extension downloads again the pictures, stylesheets and web fonts the page has already loaded, from the same servers, so a saved file can show them. Closing the tool discards them.
- Files you save go to your downloads folder. You decide whether to share them.
- Pictures in the view are loaded by your browser from the website's own servers, just as the website loads them. They are sent without a referrer.
- Your choices (template, pinned parts, edits) are kept in the extension's storage, and some settings sync between your browsers through your browser's own sync.
What we receive
| When | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You sign in | Your email address | To create your sign-in token and find your plan |
| The app starts while you are signed in | Your sign-in token | To check which features your plan includes |
| The app starts while you are signed in to a plan with all templates | Your sign-in token | To send you those templates. Each copy carries a code derived from your account (not your email address), so a copy found elsewhere can be traced; it never appears in the pages or files you make |
| You save a Laylo stamp | Your sign-in token and a fingerprint (hash) of the stamp | To sign the stamp. The stamp's content stays on your computer |
| Every visit to the app or this website | The usual request details a web server sees (IP address, browser, time) | To serve the pages; [retention period] |
The token is kept in the extension's storage and expires after 30 days. We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking, on this website or in the extension, and we don't sell or share your data.
